River City HVAC is an independent and locally-owned contractor based in Boise, Idaho, and serving the surrounding Treasure Valley since 2021. We specialize in heat pump installation, insulation and air sealing, and ductwork improvement services.

Our founder, Sam Larson, spent more than a decade in the HVAC industry, working in roles from installer to service manager, and saw the same issue again and again: contractors replacing equipment without ever diagnosing why a home wasn’t comfortable.
Before entering the trades, Sam served in the military, working on cooling systems for heat-seeking missiles, an environment where precision matters and guessing isn’t an option. That mindset carried into his HVAC career, where he learned firsthand that true comfort comes from understanding how a home works as a system.
Sam worked for a big HVAC company around here, and after watching homeowners spend thousands on equipment that never fixed the real problem, Sam knew there had to be a better way. When he discovered building science, and the tools that allow us to measure airflow, insulation performance, duct pressures, and leakage, it all clicked. He realized that solving comfort issues requires curiosity, craftsmanship, and a whole-home approach.
In 2021, he launched River City HVAC with one truck, a trusted friend from his military days, and a commitment to doing things the right way. No investors. No pressure to upsell. No cutting corners.
Today, River City is a growing team with a fleet of fully equipped service vehicles, but we follow the same set of values we were founded on:
